Bio
Andy began playing the trumpet at age eight, and his early years were spent learning musical disciplines ranging from traditional orchestral music to jazz, latin and rock music. In 1997, he moved to Montreal, Quebec, where he completed a Bachelors degree in jazz performance at McGill University. He also participated in The Banff Centre for the Arts jazz workshop and their long term residency where he studied with Dave Liebman, Kenny Wheeler and Kenny Aronoff, among others. He has also studied with such musicians as Jocelyn Couture, Kevin Dean, Andre White, Gordon Foote, Russ DeVuyst, Jan Jarcyk, Ron DiLauro, Remi Bolduc, and many others. 2003-2006 was mainly spent working with pop/soul sensation Corneille, for whom he toured extensively and provided the trumpet for his album ”Les Marchands des Reves”. In addition, he has spent much time performing with the jazz quartet "Critical M.A.S.S.", the jazzy “Eau Bansan”, the Hard Metal/Drum‘n’Bass group “Dr Noh”, the New Orleans style brass band "The Fat Tuesday Brass Band", the jazz/actuelle "Ensemble en pieces", as well as several other groups. Of late, Andy has been performing regularly with young jazz singer Nikki Yanofsky, among others, while pursuing a degree in Music Education at McGill University. -
