Bio
Undara is the search for harmony, the balance of energies, moods and states that form the array of human consciousness/existence. Consciousness seems to be the only and ultimate reality of human existence: the way we look to the world and the events of our life shape who and what we are, thus our perspective shapes the world we life in. Everything we "know" or "are" has to be present on our consciousness, at least once. And the change of our state of counsciousness is the way to ecstasy, to liberation, to bliss. With Undara we acknowledge the full spectrum of human experience, using mental places (or inner landscapes) as a metaphor to such states. Therefore a track is usually loaded with references both to spatial environments as well as inner mental states. Our approach and goal is however more mystical than metaphysycal: we want to induce certain states or images on the listener with the sole purpose of creating them, of enjoying them. There are no further messages, no metaphysical implications. Undara gained shape with my increasing interest on Organic Ambient music. The project name came from the wonderful track by Steve Roach/David Hudson, "Undara's lava tube". Recently I discovered that Undara also means "belly button" in Sanskrit - for me it's honestly just a name, be it a place on Australia or on the human body! The initial idea was to do something that is very personal but at the same time with the involvment of other persons; after all what we are has always something of those who surround us. In that sense Undara was from the beginning a "we" project, something done colectivly. Various musicians were invited to work with us and the nature of Undara will always be open and colective, either on the recordings or in the live appearances: Undara is all about sharing experiences...! We're currently finishing what can be our first record, 12 tracks of evolutive soundscapes, depicting diverse contexts, moods and spaces. Live concerts are on the way, and will be annouced here in time... -
