ARIETTA (August 19th. Last Show Ever! )'s Blog

  • "Framework," Thank You, Goodbye

    Hey friends,

We've posted the last song we ever wrote for you to hear. It's called "Framework" and we wrote it around the spring of this year. We recorded it back in July with our buddy Josh Korody, and we're pretty stoked on how it turned out. We all considered it to be one of our best songs and a pretty clear indication of both where we'd been and where we were headed. Hope you like it.

We wanted to say thank you one more time to everyone who came out to our last show. It was an amazing experience to see so many of our friends, fans and family come send us off properly. If you weren't there, you can download a recording of the set HERE.

Though we sold most of our merch at the last show, there are still a few shirts left HERE if you didn't get a chance to grab anything.

If you didn't know, Shehzaad has started a new band called GREYS, who played their first show the day after our last one. Go check them out as well, as they'll be touring and releasing an EP very soon.

Thanks again. We'll see you around sometime.

    Love,
    -Arietta

  • ARIETTA is no more.

    Current mood:sad

It's with great sadness that we inform everyone that ARIETTA has decided to throw in the towel.

Kyle has made a tough personal decision to leave the band and after many member changes over the past seven years, and after finally solidifying a line-up that resonated both creatively and personally, the rest of us feel it's time to lay the band to rest. We've come to define ourselves as a whole with each member contributing equally, and we've decided that to go on with Arietta without any one of us would be unfair to the time, energy, dedication and love all five of us have spent establishing and defining our style and identity as a band. We want to thank everyone single person who has ever supported us in our seven year run; friends, families, bands, fans, promoters, den-mothers, etc... Thank you for being a part of the best experience we could ever ask for. We've accomplished so much as a band, as people, and as friends. We've had the privilege of sharing the stage with our best friends and favourite bands, leaving us with feelings of gratitude, self-worth and achievement.

Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts, we will cherish all of the memories and will never forget the life changing experience that was ARIETTA. We're leaving the band behind in a completely amicable and understanding way, and, most importantly, we have nothing but love and support for one another.

We will be releasing two new songs that will be available on our MySpace page later this month. We all plan to continue playing music to some degree, so keep posted for updates on new projects, including Shehzaad's side project GREYS, playing Sneaky Dee's on August 20th.

We have two more shows coming up, and as many of you know, being a band for seven years means you accumulate a serious amount of debt, so please come out and grab all of our shirts/albums/etc., which will all be discounted because, sadly, everything must go. You'll be able to catch us for the last time at these two shows. We hope you can make it out and share in what is sure to be a bittersweet blast.

    Thursday July 22nd @ Sneaky Dee's - Toronto
    Thursday August 19th @ Sneaky Dee's - Toronto

    Thank you,

Sean, Tyler, Brian, Shehzaad and Kyle

    ARIETTA was:
    Tyler Johnston - Vocals
    Sean Ramesbottom - Guitar/Keys/Vox
    Brian Craig - Guitar
    Kyle Smith - Bass
    Shehzaad Jiwani - Drums/Vox
  • SPECIAL VIDEO FOR "NORTHEARNED" UP NOW!

    Hey friends!

We shot a special music video for our track "Northearned" and it's up NOW at our MySpace page, in case you haven't noticed, so GO CHECK IT OUT! It's special for a variety of reasons, which are as follows:

    1. It was shot in one take, so that means no cuts, no edits, and no special effects of any sort.

    2. It's an alternate version of the song which we've only played a couple of times before.

    3. It's performed entirely LIVE - everything you hear is exactly what we're playing in the video! No overdubs, no playback - 100% us.

Our good buddy Rhys Brisbin directed it and we think he did an amazing job. You can also spot some cameos from our buddies in other bands, so try to see who you can pick out! Tell us what you think as we're very proud of it.

    Love,
    -Arietta
