New Album etc......
I should start by saying a huge ‘Thank You’ to everyone who’s bought my new album, and for the lovely comments. It was quite a while in the making. The general consensus is that Rainbows, the first track, is the most likely candidate for a single. As usual, I don’t have a clue. I thought releasing Promise Me way back in 1992 was a bad idea, so clearly I can’t be trusted. My radio/TV promotions lady, Debi Cochrane, is going to radio next week with a 3-track ‘taster’ CD which includes Rainbows, Everlasting Love and Fun, Fun, Fun. Hopefully a few DJ’s will like at least one of the songs and playlist it!My own personal favourite on the album is Without Me. I wrote it for my daughters, Mollie (who turned 17 last weekend and is now taking driving lessons!), Brenna, 13 and Connie, 12. It’s about a pretty dark time in my life when I wasn’t sure if I would be around for them (I was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2005). Thankfully, I’m all clear now, and one of my main missions in life is to encourage every woman to check her boobs!Since my last album, Mixed Emotions back in 1999, I am no longer signed to Sony records or Warner Chappell Music. I’ve also parted company with my manager, John Glover (I was with him for twenty years!) so it feels a bit like I’m starting out again. Actually, it’s a great feeling. Change is good.My husband, Camps, who calls himself my ‘care-taker manager’, has been organising everything from mastering & pressing the CD’s to registering the songs with various organisations, helping me with the artwork, arranging meetings and sorting all the legal stuff. Without him I doubt this new album would’ve seen the light of day.Lee Noble books me all my live shows and administers the online shop (for his sins!) Alan runs both the .com website and MySpace, which I think are absolutely brilliant. I’m enthused with their enthusiasm! So, the live shows... we already have 20+ gigs booked for the autumn and I have THE most amazing band: Felix, my lovely bass player (a bit weird but that’s how I like him); Gary, without doubt the best looking keyboard player in the band; Fergus brings out my maternal instincts (anyone who needs feeding up generally does!); and Simon, gallantly stepping in for Frank who has been committed... to Bill Wyman for some time.I’m also planning to record a live DVD and film a video in the not too distant future. If I need an audience I’ll make sure that everyone on the mailing list gets the head’s up!In an effort to ‘raise my profile’, as they say, my good friend, Colette Brown (she played Samantha Kennedy in Holby City), now runs her own ad agency and is working to secure me a product tie-up. Having been the feminine hygiene route before, I’m holding out for either chocolate or perfume... wish me luck!I’ll let you know if anything amazing happens.Love,BEV x -
