  • Radio Music Society Print at Austin City Limits

Austin City Limits, PBS's long time popular live music program completed its 38th season on Sunday Dec 2nd with a performance by Esperanza Spalding and her "Radio Music Society" ensemble. Her return to the show will air Feb 23rd on PBS. Spalding made her entrance accompanied by a boisterously swinging, jazzified big band explosion of sound, strolling and dancing onto the stage with her electric bass, bobbing and weaving as she sang along. Introducing her ensemble member-by-member, she coaxed them to open up and let (everyone) know what they were all musically saying: Also a part of the capacity crowd at the Moody Theater were 350 local Austin middle school music students who hopefully took the same level of inspiration from Spalding that she gathered from her teachers and mentors through the years.
