..Open-mindedness, curiosity, timelessness… Marseille's label I.O.T (" In Out Thru ") simply calls it "eclectronism" or electronic eclectism. From hip-hop to electro and break to tekno – amongst other numerous investigated styles (trip-hop, hardcore, dubstep, world, etc.) - and from Abraxxxas to Loan, via Feudjay, Cyberskum, Tetaar, Arok, Midilink, Babylon Joke, Moshpit, Caterva, Noisyka, Hadron, Tahity Bob, Funny Ox, Mentalo, Arobas or the Expedisound series, the Electronic Music Factory I.O.T has imposed a unique style. Setting its electronic foundations, I.O.T has toyed with the urban rhythmic, sampled the ethnic beatz and claimed a certain ethics of openness… Following the example of the first rave parties and of its nomad sound systems.
Brief reminder of the facts: At the beginning of 2000s, After a musical learning with the members of the sounds system, Tellurik and Tomahawk, The members of the rising label take out first 4 vinyl between their journeys and brackets of life home-body. Some base themselves in Marseille and create with UNCX (RIP), the label I.O.T via the release of the first "African Expedisound".
The concept of this hybrid and stateless project is to meet local traditional musicians and invite them to record. The sound material is then delivered to the I.O.T artists who, in their own terms, will revisit the samples stored in the database in order to compose their own sounds. The project, as authentic as innovative, has given rise to the "Mongolia Expedisound" (Cd and DVD), released early 2009 and realized by a few I.O.T members during a Mongolian journey.
Next ? The China Expedisound, expected in 2010... Amongst other releases planned this fall !! Never in the tendency but always in the right direction, the I.O.T label carries on with its digital exploration and innovation.

Ouverture d'esprit, curiosité, intemporalité… Le label marseillais I.O.T ("In Out Thru") appelle ça tout simplement l'éclectronisme ou l'éclectisme électronique. Du hip-hop à l'électro, du break à la tekno - entre nombreux autres styles explorés (trip-hop, hardcore, dubstep, world, etc.) - et d'Abraxxxas à Loan, via Feudjay, Cyberskum, Tetaar, Arok, Midilink, Babylon Joke, Moshpit, Caterva, Noisyka, Hadron, Tahity Bob, Funny Ox, Mentalo, Arobass ou encore la série Expedisound, l'Eclektronik Music Factory I.O.T. a imposé un style unique. Posé ses fondations électroniques, caressé les rythmiques urbaines, samplé les beatz ethniques et revendiqué une certaine éthique. Quasi familiale. A l'instar de celle des premières free parties et de ses sound systems nomades, dont Audictive, l'âme et le cortex du label est initialement issu.
Bref rappel des faits : Début des années 2000, Après un apprentissage musical auprès des membres des sounds system itinérants, Tellurik et Tomahawk, Les membres du label naissant sortent 4 premiers vinyles entre leurs voyages et parenthèses de vie sédentaire. Certains se basent à Marseille et fondent avec feu UNCX (RIP), le label I.O.T Records via la sortie du premier "African Expedisound"
Concept de ce projet hybride et apatride: partir à la rencontre de musiciens traditionnels locaux et les inviter à enregistrer. A échanger. Cette matière sonore est alors livrée aux artistes maison qui, à leur tour et à leur sauce, revisitent les samples stockés dans la base de données afin de composer leurs propres sons. Un projet aussi authentique que novateur qui a aujourd'hui donné vie au second volet, "Mongolia Expedisound" (Cd & DVD), paru début 2009 et réalisé lors d'un périple en Mongolie par quelques membres du label. A suivre en 2010 ? L'Expedisound en Chine... entre autres sorties, attendues dés la rentrée !! Jamais dans la tendance mais toujours dans la bonne direction, le label I.O.T poursuit ses digitales explorations avec obstination.

Strasbourg et le nord-est de la France sont à la pointe de la scène dubstep / grime depuis l'émergence de ces styles en France, et Caterva y sont pour quelque chose. Réussissant à fédérer un public varié avec leurs basses lourdes et leurs rythmiques impeccables, ils font danser l'Europe, des clubs les plus huppés aux free parties les plus undergrounds, des plus gros festivals aux bars animés des confins alsaciens. Après un détour par Kiosk et Jarring FX, les voilà de retour sur I.O.T. avec une release co-produite par Probe1 : Caterva Goes Up North, c'est leur penchant pour une certaine musique froide et synthétique, qui ne s'entiche pas des clivages dubstep habituels pour se concentrer sur une esthétique résolument futuriste."

Caterva aux quattres points cardinaux de la bass music. Tout au long de l’année 2010/11, 4 vinyles 2 titres [appuyé par un troisième morceau au format digital] tenteront de visiter quelques uns des différents courants musicaux de la bass music. Un premier opus prévu en Janvier 2010 se dirigera vers le Nord et le UK dubstep. Appuyé par les enregistrement et le mix de Probe1 [torsion records].
Le second opus nommé justement « Caterva goes down south » explorera les influences sud américaines pour une incursion dans le son Kuduro accompagné du Mc Argentin _mc Baâl

"Strasbourg city and the north east area are at the forefront of the dubstep / grime scene since these sytles have emerged in France, and Caterva are no strangers to this. Managing to bring together a diverse audience with their heavy basses and impeccable rhythms, they make Europe dance, from the most exclusive clubs to the most underground free parties, from the largest festivals to the lively bars of the Alsatian outskirts. After a drift on Kiosk and Jarring FX, they are back on I.O.T. records with a release co-produced by Probe1 : Caterva Goes Up North is their bias toward a certain cold and synthetic music, that doesn't clutter itself with the usual dubstep divisions, in order to focus on a futuristic aesthetic."

Signed recently on I.O.T. Records, Caterva is back on the scene with the eclectic label from the South of France. From Marseille to Strasbourg…From south to north, the 4-record project in preparation represents the idea that musical influences can come from every direction.

Caterva is at the 4 cardinal points of bass music. Over the course of 2010, 4 two-sided vinyls (with a third, digital track to download) will visit a few of the different musical styles on the contemporary electronic music scene. A first opus, scheduled for release in April 2010 is pointed North toward UK dubstep, recorded and mixed by Probe1 (Torsion Records).
A second opus named "Caterva goes down South" will explore the South American and African influences for a trip into the Kuduro of Angola, featuring the flow of Uruguay's MC Baâl. .
The East comes next, and the deep sound of Berlin. The Strasbourg-based group, as a result of their geographic proximity, have long been touched by the minimal sounds of the Berlin underground.
Finally Caterva's musical pilgrimage leads them west toward North America, specifically New York, musical laboratroy par excellence where the Big Apple's own Mr. E meets them at the intersection of new hip-hop and destructured dub step.
To complete this musical voyage, Kashmir, Caterva's VJ and graphic designer, has created 4 album covers, independent yet complementary. Assembled, the four designs complete a puzzle for you to discover.
These four 45s are the pillars on which the group's first album has been constructed. To be released (on CD and digitally) later this year. Stay tuned…

Style : HIP HOP ELEKTRO
Moins d'un an après la sortie de l'album «Elektron[s]», une fusion entre rap brut et musique électronique, AbraxXxas récidive avec « Elektron[s] Remix »,poussant d'avantage le concept de multiplicité de producteurs. Initié via un concourt de remix, ce sont plus de 35 morceaux qui furent reçus. Pour finalement en sélectionné 15. Définitivement plus Dubstep et Electronica, « Elektrons V2 » flirte également avec diverses influences électro. Une diversité voulue dés le départ, tout en suivant bien entendu le fil conducteur du hiphop si cher à notre lyriciste.
