2010 is the year of rebirth for Jessie Baylin. She has left Verve Forecast, the home to her 2008 album Firesight. Out on her own and independent, she has been able to grasp her new-found freedom and get a fresh start on recording her latest project. Jessie has taken to the studio with noted producer Kevin Augunas (Cold War Kids, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros) to bring life to songs she has spent a year and half fine-tuning. .... Jessie Baylin’s road to a musical career has been an unconventional one. She gained her initial performing experience during early childhood, singing for customers at the Fire Sight Inn, the New Jersey restaurant/jazz bar that her parents owned. It was there that she developed her lifelong affinity for music, as well as gaining some early insights into human nature by observing the establishment’s colorful clientele. .... Shortly after graduating from high school, Baylin demonstrated her iconoclastic spirit by leaving her family and friends behind to move to Los Angeles. After an extended period honing her budding songwriting skills in solitude, Baylin recruited a band and booked her first show at L.A. club, the Mint. Almost immediately, she developed a local buzz and an enthusiastic following. “When I started playing out in L.A., it was the first time in my life that I actually felt like me,’ she says. “I could walk into a place and feel like all of me was there." .... In 2007, a co-writing session with songwriter/producer/recording artist Jesse Harris (best-known for his Grammy-winning work with Norah Jones) organically grew into a recording project that became Baylin's first album, You. 2008 saw the release of Jessie’s follow up album, Firesight, named after her parent’s jazz bar that had been the birthplace of her love for music and entertaining. Recorded in Jessie’s newly adopted hometown of Nashville, the album offers a vibrant, soulful showcase for her talents as both an uncommonly insightful songwriter and a deeply expressive, effortlessly charismatic vocalist. .... After a year of extensive touring in 2009, Jessie returned to record in L.A., one of the earliest sources of her songwriting inspiration. As she passionately explained, "I’m currently in the studio, making a truly wonderful album and could not be happier. I am in control, I am empowered and I promise that you will now get to hear this album, the way it should sound and with the right vibe and spirit.” Jessie's forthcoming album is expected to be released in late 2010. .... ..CONTACT MANAGEMENT.. .... ..CONTACT AGENT.. .. .. ......

BIO

When you hear Jessie Baylin sing for the first time, it takes a matter of moments to realize that she’s intimately familiar with pop’s history – but not at all interested in repeating it. Her songs carry a classic pop tone that evoke memories of the Brill Building and Laurel Canyon in the ‘70s while retaining a decidedly modern, empowered worldview. Growing up in a small town in New Jersey, Jessie pursued musical training at a high school for the arts, where she made connections with kindred spirits like Scarlett Johansson (who directed the video for this album’s leading track, “Hurry Hurry”). Soon afterwards, she moved to Los Angeles where she expanded her horizons further by drawing attention from within her peer group including long-time Norah Jones collaborator Jesse Harris, who teamed with her on her first two albums. It wasn’t in the studio that she really cut her teeth, though: It was on the road, the clubs of the Midwest and south and the festival circuit. Jessie recently settled in Nashville and her move there is palpable throughout Little Spark, in her mellifluous phrasing and the gentle twang.

Gathering what remained of an inheritance from her grandmother – whose nickname Jessie borrowed for the Blonde Rat label moniker – Jessie hired Producer Kevin Augunas, who helped her gather some of the most empathetic musicians she could find, including old-school guitar man Waddy Wachtel, veteran drummer Jim Keltner, Greg Leisz on pedal steel, The Watson Twins on backup vocals and famed Emmy & Grammy winning string arranger Jimmie Haskell (Elvis Presley, Simon & Garfunkel, Bobby Gentry). But it was modern-day auteur and multi-instrumentalist Richard Swift (Shins) who was Little Sparks chief arranger and with Swift, Kevin, and the musicians in place, Jessie found her creative collaborators and co-conspiritors. The result is Jessie’s third album Little Spark.
