  • Bio

Julia Kasdorf is a singer/songwriter from Winnipeg, Manitoba. A lover of music and words Julia has honored her passion by performing on the Young Performers Stage at the Winnipeg Folk Festival for five years, and filling up the months in between with performances around the city. These performances included opening for local artists such as Del Barber, Kerri Woelke, and Jaylene Johnson, as well as performing at coffee shops, restaurants, and bars. Whether writing English papers for university, writing lyrics for songs, or writing poetry for herself, Julia acknowledges and treasures the space in her heart reserved for creative expression through words. Still flirting with the various roles her love of writing and performing might potentially play in her life, Julia continues to enjoy and become inspired by music of all genres, as well as art in all forms. Combining adventures from the islands of Indonesia where she lived and volunteered for one year, alongside other travel adventures as well as her daily life here in Winnipeg, Julia has grown to appreciate the tradition of storytelling that folk music offers. Infusing her songs with personal testaments to life experiences, Julia combines elements of folk and pop to act as a vehicle for her lyrics. Much like a traveler in her songs themed on longing, searching, and hoping, Julia curiously continues to forge ahead on her pilgrimage; taking with her a beloved guitar, a soft but sincere voice, and her stories to share along the way. ..Header Banner Made with MyBannerMaker.com!
