The song was first written way back when Kedash was in high school and the memories of loves emotional roller-coaster were fresh in her heart.

When Kedash was 12 she recorded her first background vocals. She said she was so afraid at the time thinking that she would mess up and waist those people’s studio time. However, Kedash reports that everything went great and that she even got paid a little money for her work. A lot of studios started calling her after that to do background vocals for various artists. She says that it was a great feeling and that at that time she felt that she could be successful as a singer.

During these tender years Kedashs own unique musical style was forming. Kedash reports that she would listen to and study various artists such as Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu and Whitney Houston. People would tell her that she sounds like various artists throughout the years but then at about the age of sixteen, her very own, unique vocal style had emerged.
