Bio:

Kevin Kurek is a guitarist, composer, recording engineer, and media tech specialist. I've been playing and deeply involved in music for over 20 years, originally inspired to begin learning by the Kiss album "Alive". I released my first album "Destiny Calling" in 2005 and am working on the second / third currently as time permits. I am not a full time musician, so progress is made as life permits. Working in the increasingly unstable media business means that I frequently have to be more occupied with that than with my real ambitions of creating top notch original compositions. Nevertheless, much material has been written in the last few years and I always have full intentions to bring it to reality. Two & and half CD's are currently written and demoed, and simply having time to give the final tracks their full potential is the only reason things do not come to light sooner than later currently. I only release material when it truly is deserving of it, because I do this for the creativity and no other reason. I only plan on releasing music I am truly proud of and worthy of attention. I am seeking to create original music which is melodic, catchy but aggressive, with large touches of neoclassical, and more bombastic synth sounds. There is an emphasis on musicianship and chops oriented playing. The music could be generalized as "power metal with the energy of thrash which has appeal to listeners outside of normal metal tastes". I have over the years developed my own recording studio and video production business. I am single handedly capable of full audio and video production to professional levels for almost any purpose. I am putting those resources to use for my own projects naturally... My studio's development is linked to my own ambitions in producing top notch recordings and videos. I have no interest in the music "scene", and think only of creative aspects. This makes it harder to find band members because I have found most indie musicians do not have real ambitions beyond those that promote their own egos and vicarious habits. My previous bands have all been casualties of internal jousting, personal agendas, which I do not tolerate anymore. Therefore my music is 100% written by myself... and that can take time, but time I am willing to invest. Attempts at full band cooperation in the past has only resulted in compromising the quality and direction of writing... So when it comes to my love of metal music, the task and joy of writing is exclusively mine. Although I've played for years with other players and in various cover bands, they get no mention or acknowledgment from me. Cover bands were always unfulfilling, and original projects with groups were always ending before anything was accomplished, or else taking my ideas of material to oblivion because of pointless disputes. KEVIN KUREK = is the writer, plays all instruments on the recordings thus far. He is a Recording / Mastering Engineer, & Video Editor. This is a solo project for Kevin, of which the new group name will be announced later when the album is released officially. FUTURE BAND MEMBERS: Are sought for the purpose of playing live located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada area: A FEMALE or male SINGER who has capacity to do higher pitched melodic lines, but would welcome a mix of clean or screamed vocals. Having the capacity to sing melodically is the critical component... in the style of "Helloween" or "Within Temptation". This would be the only other person to be on the current recording. The SECOND GUITAR player will be capable of doing tight doubled up rhythms and harmonies on lead lines. The ability to follow the main riffs in sync, and cooperate as second guitarist (re not compete with) is essential to being heard and being perceived as professional. The DRUMMER must be capable of fast double kick, and busy drum styles related to thrash music. All musicans are to be "willing volunteers" to assist in the playing of Kevin’s original music, which they would find interesting and fun to perform. There is no goal for world conquest, just creating and playing quality metal live for the sheer joy of doing so as long as possible. The rush of playing live with quality material is the REWARD we all have to gain, not monetary ambitions. If people stick around and can cooperate in a continued friendly and fun manner, they could contribute to future material.
