Ray Kennedy (vocals), Ric Grech (bass, ex-Family; Blind Faith; Traffic) and Carmine Appice (drums, ex-Vanilla Fudge; Beck, Bogert And Appice) completed a stellar line-up, drawing its punning appellation from the initials of the prime participants. The enterprise was doomed at its inception when Bloomfield refused to fly to Los Angeles to record - his contributions were overdubbed in a Sausalito studio - and subsequently greeted the album’s release with an interview to the Los Angeles Times in which he disowned the project, admitting his motivations were purely financial. KGB, not unnaturally, imploded, leaving behind an unspectacular set notable for the inclusion of ‘Sail On Sailor’ (originally recorded by the Beach Boys on Holland). Minus Bloomfield and Grech, the remaining members released another sub-standard album before mercifully pulling the plug on the enterprise.
