Plusieurs musiciens ont fait partie du groupe, mais la formation est maintenant officiellement complétée par François Hamel (chant), Marc-André Gauthier (basse) et Dominic Gilbert (guitare). Bien que le nom et l’esthétique du groupe soient basés sur un véritable légende du terroir québécois au sujet d’une femme meurtrière pendue puis exposée dans une cage après qu’elle eut commis le meurtre de deux de ses maris, le groupe traite d’un plus vaste éventail de sujets comme les relations amour/haine, les croyances mystiques, la guerre et la vie après la mort. Le 11 février 2012, La Corriveau a lancé son tout premier album intitulé « Soul Possession ». En Octobre 2012, l’album « Soul Possession » est officiellement en nomination pour l’album MÉTAL de l’année à la GAMIQ. Le 2 mai 2014, le groupe lance un EP de 4 pièces intitulé « Femme Fatale » et remporte un concours lui permettant de jouer sur les planches du festival international Heavy Montreal au Parc Jean-Drapeau. La Corriveau lancera son deuxième album intitulé « Black Sorrow » le 21 avril 2017. En septembre 2017, La Corriveau apprend que l’album « Black Sorrow »sera en nomination pour l’album métal de l’année au Gala Alternatif de la Musique Indépendante du Québec 2017 (GAMIQ).

La Corriveau is a heavy metal band based in Québec City and founded by Marc Légaré (guitar) and Xavier Alvarez (drums) in the spring of 2008. Many musicians came and went, but the band is now officially completed by François Hamel (vocals), Marc-André Gauthier (bass) and Dominic Gilbert (guitar). Even though the name and esthetics of the band are based on a true tale from Québec’s folklore about a murderous woman hung and exposed in a cage after she was found guilty of the killing of two of her husbands, the band’s subject matters are wider ranging from love/hate relationships, mystical beliefs, war and life after death. On February 11, 2012, La Corriveau released their first album titled Soul Possession. On October 2012, Soul Possession was officially nominated for Metal Album of the Year at the GAMIQ Awards. On May 2, 2014, the band released a 4-song EP called Femme Fatale and won a battle of the bands contest that allowed them to play at the Heavy Montreal international music festival at Parc Jean-Drapeau. La Corriveau will be releasing its second album called Black Sorrow on April 21, 2017. In September 2017, La Corriveau is informed that the album « Black Sorrow » will be nominated for the metal album of the year at the Gala Alternatif de la Musique Indépendante du Québec 2017 (GAMIQ).
