who could/should replace steven tyler?
when any band gets a new singer, it can go one of two ways: real good or real bad. especially for a heritage group like aerosmith, who’s singer’s voice represents a huge component of the band’s overall sound. think about it: brian johnson, sammy hagar (and, by implication, gary cherone), william duvall, even journey’s newbie, arnel pineda. they all had big shoes to fill, and they filled them with varying degrees of success and fan acceptance.
so who could/should replace steven tyler? sammy hagar? steve perry?!
UPDATE 11/11/09 - last night, as i was posting this blog, "tyler joined perry and [the joe perry project] for an encore version of 'walk this way,'" reported billboard.biz, and "he told the crowd that 'i am not leaving aerosmith' and told perry 'you are a man of many colors, but i am the motherf--king rainbow!'"
looks like we spoke too soon...

Adam Lambert lol
if it weren't for the EGO issues, I'd say David Lee Roth could pull off being a front man for Aerosmith.
they should have called it quits 500 years ago
Dude, you can't replace Steven Tyler. I think it would be potential career suicide for Aerosmith to attempt to perform or release anything that didn't involve their original frontman. He's just such an integral part of the band after all these years.
A lot of major bands have lost popularity or just gone downhill when they change lead singers. I'd hate to see the mighty Aerosmith go that direction as well.
AXL ROSE!!
Okay, I'll do it, enough already, I'll do it.
steven tyler didn't leave just read an interview
I think they should just call it a day! I think at this point could you really replace him. Just work things out, with Steven Tyler, for your fortieth tour and then be done.
Ever hear Pat Monahan from Train sing 'Dream On'? He's better at it than Steven Tyler is these days. IF they have to replace Tyler, he'd be the way to go.
