Lisa Francis grew up in Halifax Nova Scotia surrounded by sights and sounds that inspired her love for music. From a young age she could sing and learned to play the piano. Her experience of music grew through the talent that surrounded her at church. There were always professional musicians encouraging her in music and giving her opportunity to experiment in a band. Throughout Jr. High and Highschool music was a major part of her social life and that is when she picked up a guitar and taught herself to play. Songwriting emerged through contemplative moments at the piano. Her songs have been inspired through creation, friendships, conversations, God, challenges, the Bible, questions, reflection. They paint a picture of the life of faith she desires to live and the journey of walking it out. As songs began to come and opportunities to play increased, she felt that God was leading her towards recording an EP. Through connections in the Halifax music community she found a place to record and brought in local musicians to accompany her on the recordings. In Fall of 2009 she did a solo tour in Manitoba and returned back to Halifax to officially release her first CD called "Reflection". Since the release she has been traveling within Canada and playing locally in a wide variety of venues. She has also been working on songwriting and plans to return to the studio to record again in the next year. "I feel that music is one of the most powerful means of connection.
