Once Nothing's Blog

  • Cheers to the future!

"First Came the Law" was released January 15, 2008 on Solid State Records. "Earthmover" was release July 24th, 2007 on CI Records. We self-released "Voice of the Paragon" June 2nd, 2006. Before we originally called it quits, we did over 800 shows in 4 years. Seriously. We cut loose at the end of 2008, and did our "last" show May of 2009. Then, a year later, almost to the day, we had a reunion show with some of our best friends.

Now, we are older, and our lives are increasingly different from what they were. It'd be hard to find five guys whose lives have changed as much as ours have in only two years. Some of us have careers, some have wives, and some are still fighting the good fight. What matters most now is that we are 5 dudes who love making music together, and that is what we will continue to do. August 11th at Altar Bar in Pittsburgh marks the official return, what comes after that is unwritten. So slick back your hair, grow out your beard, and let's see where we go from here.

  • Thank you and Goodbye

Well I did have a big speech planned out but instead i'm scrapping it and just getting to the point.

After almost 10 years, countless tours, 2 vans, 4 trailers, tons of demos, an EP on CI Records and a full length on Solid State Records, a few member changes and a million memories ONCE NOTHING IS OVER.

I'm sorry if this is a shock but this needs to happen. There is no other reason for this, other than the simple fact that this is the right time. All the members of ON (past and present) love and care for one another like brothers.

On behalf of all of those involved with ON, THANK YOU! We have had the time of our lives and we will forever cherish all of the memories and stories that we have made! God Bless Everyone and THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING BLUE COLLAR METAL!!!!

    Your forever grateful friend,
    Todd Lowry

PS. there will be a LAST GOODBYE SHOW ANNOUNCED THIS WEEK!
  • IMPORTANT ONCE NOTHING UPDATE!!!

Hello everyone. As I have been saying for the past few days now, we have some very important things to talk about.

As many of you know, Once Nothing has been around for quite some time now. 9 years to be exact. People have come and people have gone. All have been equally important in building this monster of a music group and touring machine. We've had the honor of meeting all of you listeners and fans, and have been able to take so much from the experiences we have shared with you all. We truly love you. You mean the world to us, and without you guys none of this would be possible. Its your coming to shows, buying cds and tshirts, headbanging, being goofy as crap, and giving us your floors to sleep on, etc. that have made this something worth doing. With that being said, I would like to officially announce that after December, Giuseppe and Steve will be leaving us. There is no bad blood or calosed relationships. They both have just felt that it is their time to part ways with this band. Here is what they wanted to say:

    Giuseppe:
"dear friends and family that have supported this band throughout the ages: i've had the most amazing 4 years of my life spending time with absolutely amazing people meeting new friends and playing music that meant the world to me. I just had a change of heart and feel called to explore the unknown caverns of life's ever-glorious adventures. It's been one unbelievable ride, and I (by NO means) will ever lose my passion for making music i love. I just felt that God was calling me in a different direction. I'm not sure what that means at this very second, but i'm sure it will reveal itself in the near future. It's nothing personal with any of the guys in this band, i love them all to death and will continue to support this band no matter what. My heart is just not into this touring lifestyle any longer, or this genre of music in general. I would be cheating Once Nothing out of a quality record if i were to stick around and write, and i'm sure my attitude did not persuade the other members of once nothing that i was capable of doing so. I will continue to make music a large part of my life, whatever that may be. So i pass my torch on to whoever feels that they will have the passion that i once had for the dreams and aspirations that this band of amazing people seek. (drummers, inquire within. I will personally be reviewing your submissions.) To Todd, Geoff, Steve, Josh, Jordan, Hough daddy, Dave, and Carroll, Thank you so much for letting me be a part of this and share the amazing things God has laid out in front of us. I'll always love you guys. To the friends i've made during my travels, God bless you all for staying faithful and believing in this band and i pray now and always that you will continue to support and believe in this band. I wish you all the very best.
    Love and blessings always,
Giuseppe (deg deg) (gypsy) (joey) (G-baby) (G-unit)"

    Steve:
Man, this is weird to write.  No one ever joins something with the intention of leaving it, and yet here I am, after almost 4 years and thousands of miles chasing a dream now walking away from my safe zone.  When someone tells you that if you believe in something to stand true to it, my advice is to believe them, and if your heart isn't into something, don't do it.  And so with that said, as much as I love touring, performing, and being in a band, my heart isn't in to Once Nothing anymore, and so I'm leaving.  I hate the idea of spending time with and around something that I can't be truthful to you and myself about.  I'm not sure what's in the future for me, I guess we'll wait and find out.  Thanks to the friends I've made, I feel like we are friends outside of Once Nothing and expect that to continue.  Also thank you to Todd, Josh, Dave, Giuseppe, Geoff, Jordan, CI Records, Solid State Records, Chad Johnson, Mike Milford, the bands we've toured with and everyone who believed in us and supported me in this.  Please come out to the last tour I'm doing in December, it would mean a lot to see you there!  God bless, I love you, see you when I see you.
    -Steve

We love Giuseppe and Steve very much and wish them all the luck in the world with their future endeavors. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE come out to all of the shows we have scheduled for December in order to see our friends off. THEY WILL be doing our Christmas tour!

Please keep checking back for more updates as we will have lots of them in the near future.

    Cheers!
    Geoff and O.N.
