... I do not know if the guitar riff from "This Mourning" is derivative or original... either way matters little to me. I know from personal experience it is hard to separate inspiration from the heart to get, truly, original.
    My sense is you are predominately... original. If my comments seem flattering forget them because I do not need to flatter true talent. Yet I sense a need to encourage talent, and you Shaun without a doubt, are talented not to mention gifted. You may wonder why I would take an interest. I suspect it is because no one took an interest in "me" as I was discovering my own identity and gifts. I may be wrong but if I am accurately reading between the lines your life has already presented more pain than the average individual.  And if I am indeed as perceptive (as I like to believe) your attempt to put that pain outside of yourself is a worthy and noble exercise. This alone makes you more than mediocre.  It is what makes you... you, it is what makes you unique.
   I am a "nobody", an insignificant, a cypher if you will. I do not pretend to "know" people, I have no connections, I'm not gonna' make you rich and famous...blah blah blah.... Blah Blah Blah... nevertheless your music has impacted me... thank you. Do not give up the dream... do not give up... do not settle for... do not settle for... ever!
   It occurs to me as I have read (while listening) to your lyrics that you are a man of faith. As conflicted and complicated as modern society is faith never will be. Keep up the good work... keep true to you (even when it is not popular) and... continue to be faithful.
