I never no what to expect from the northeast... the shows always happen so fast and your in and out so fast, sometimes your left wondering... what the hell just happened to the last week of my life. This was absolutely no different... so i will try and re cap it to the best of my ability... oh yeah... I'm a horrible story teller too.
Adam Crying In Saratoga Springs, NY
We started in Saratoga Springs, NY which was a somewhat uneventful show… well… all three bands rocked but, nothing bad happened =). Then we move on to Boston… well… the first time we were in Boston, let me explain.
Catering Having a Little Fun @ The first Boston show
The Expendables had played their normal set then right when Ziggy Marley went to take the stage all the power went out! Normally you would think it was a quick power outage through the city or what not… but not this time… the power never restored and the show was cancelled, so… the way I see it.. The Expendables closed out the Comcast Center in Boston… Alright boys! Shortly after the venue was able to restore a little power, just enough to get 311’s production packed up we were rescheduled to play the following Monday, again for The Expendables =).
One thing missing... Oh yeah... POWER
Then we moved to Central Park, which was awesome. This was the first time I had ever been to central park and as most people when they go there the first time I was amazed. As shaun and the local crew were unloading the trailer I caught wind of the current situation. 311 was not allowed to bring in their PA system because of bullshit union crap so when they got there, there was a piece of shit sound system that was blown to shit. Needless to say, it was unable to be used for the show and they had to bring in a new one, and quick, the expendables where scheduled to go on at 6:00pm… it was about 4:30 when I heard what was going on… crazy. So at 5:00pm a new pa system shows up and the 1/8th day sound crew (311’s hired sound crew) went straight to work. It was hooked up in about 40 minutes… just when I thought the expendables weren’t going to be hitting the stage that night the system was up and the boys where ready.
I may need some help with this.
The next day was a day off for the Unity tour, but the Expendables kept it going with a show in Hartford Connecticut. The weather was crazy… golf ball hail, it was insane! But soon the weather cleared and the show went off without a hitch.
Tree down in Hartford... On a side note... what happened to summer?
The next day the Unity tour moved on to Jersey at PNC center… fun show… really boomy room though… then off to Nissan Pavilion in DC for another awesome show. Oh yeah… then back to BOSTON!!! Haha… yup went back for The Expendables second time in boston that week… but the show was finally properly closed out by Ziggy and 311.
Eight busses and four semis used to keep the summer unity rolling
We then closed out the northeast with a show in Philadelphia @ Penns Landing. It was an outdoor venue and super windy, the wind knocked over a few truss and lights into some amps and what not… everything was taken down and covered for a few hours, once the storm passed through the show went on just fine.
Marko and Justin sound checking 311
The tour then headed south with a show in Virginia Beach and we then had a day off in VaBeach as well… Today we are in Charlotte NC and I think tonight’s show should be pretty fun. Tomorrow we move on to Atlanta for the Fourth of July show, should be pretty fun… I’ll post some pictures soon.L
