    Ujjaya at the beginning was a heavy-psy-trance rock group , influenced by Magma, Ummaguma era Pink Floyd , Hawkwind and Dead Can Dance.It was in 1993 ,long before group like Earth, Om or Nightwish appear. Hery Randriambololona was the very soul of this project melting music, dancers (a nunchaku martial artist), Yoga,Trance by mantra,psychedelic light show. After having recording the album "Agamas" (that mean tradition into sanskrit,refering to the Shivait tradition) the band split in 1995. Hery then made a guitar-synth duet with Philippe Lepot.From this era was born the album "Tetragramaton".Only after the split of this duet, Hery dive deep into experimental -ethno-ambient music , leaving the rock side of music and thus the guitar. After having made many private concert and radio concert. He take for himself the name of the band and decided to record "The master of crossroad" in 2005 with the help for the master of his mate Philippe Lepot. The album went public in 2008 and was acclaims as an ethno-ambient gem in the chronicles. Since 2008 Ujjaya played with people from various horizon and culture ( Mexican,Lebanese, Maroccan).

My Favorite Electronic Tricks

MOST INSTRUMENTS THAT YOU HEAR IN THIS MUSIC ARE NOT SYNTHESIZERS !!!
I use mostly a SPACE STATION (by Digitech,but not available anymore ),the famous E-BOW (that I also use on bass),the FREEZE ( by Electro-harmonix) that simulate a perfect synthesizer sheet out of any sound,the SLICER ( a Boss pedal that transform any sound into Synthesizer sequence),a bass envelope filter named SYNTH WAH by Digitech (I use on any instruments except Bass).My delay/reverb unit come from an old YAMAHA FX 500 from 1989 I would never exchange for anything in the world (I slept with it during 3 month in order to get the guts out of it ),and many others guitar pedals (I should be endorsed by Boss). My favorite synth sampler is HELIOS (a VST free software), and I use the VST synth designed by H.G. FORTUNE (any synth this german team make is wonderful).For more details about the material I use please READ MYSPACE BLOG.

Musical Philosophy and Favorite Artists

At the beginning music was not a goal to achieve in itself but rather a way to see if I was spiritually in tune or not because if it's the case music happens very easely ,flowing freely in your mind and in your hands. Ambient music like trance music or sacred music in the non-occidental civilizations is where the invisible (the spiritual) and the visible (the sound ,the material to create that sound and the technic you have to use) meet.You can cheat with your tongue and your speech not with music.
