  • The top five WTF? performances in Bamboozle history

by Emily Zemler Apr 28, 2010 at 6:56 PM

Sure, you could probably predict a handful of the bands that are going to play Bamboozle each year. (Really, is there a year that Saves The Day hasn’t played yet?) But at the same time, you could also argue that each edition of the New Jersey festival yields a moment (or, hell, a series of moments) where all you can think is, “WTF? Did that really just happen? And how come that guy from the TV show about all the cougars is playing with Claudio Sanchez?”

These, clearly, are a lot of emotions to experience. And sometimes this rush of emotions is a good mix of shock and awe. Other times it’s just plain confusing. With this in mind, we’ve counted down the top five WTF? moments at Bamboozle—we know we didn’t include the food options, but that’s a whole other post.

  • Bamboozle 2010: Set times announced

by Jonah Bayer Apr 28, 2010 at 12:51 PM

Set times for this weekend’s Bamboozle Festival were announced today and in typical fashion, it looks like you’ll be able to catch pretty much every band you want to see this year without much trouble—and, depending on traffic, you should be able to be home in time to catch an SNL rerun. Or whatever.

The Skate and Surf and Sony Bloggie Stage trade off with every set, meaning that on Saturday you can catch the Maine, Saves The Day, Bullet For My Valentine, Angels and Airwaves, Something Corporate, Ke$ha, Drake and Paramore all in a row. (Well, unless you have to go to the bathroom.)

However, if you want to see Chiodos, Attack Attack or any of the super secret surprise acts playing under secret names you’ll have to wander over to some of the smaller stages (there are a total of eight stages total and, unfortunately, the festival hasn’t figured out how to add more hours to the day yet).

  • All Time Low set release date for live DVD, get naked

by Emily Zemler Apr 28, 2010 at 10:13 AM

All Time Low is already following dangerously close to the footsteps of their idols blink-182, but now the Maryland quartet have announced that they’ll be releasing their own version of The Mark, Tom and Travis Show. The band’s debut live DVD (and tour documentary), cleverly entitled Straight To DVD, is due in stores on May 25, promising footage that was filmed during All Time Low’s Fall 2009 headlining tour.

The band released a trailer for the DVD yesterday and not only is it NSFW, it reveals that this DVD will feature more nudity (hopefully still censored, we really don’t need to see what guitarist Jack Barakat is working with) than you ever wanted to see from skinny emo boys. You can view it below. The band is also having a real deal film premiere (with, shockingly enough, an actual red carpet) in Los Angeles on May 10th.

All Time Low’s dreams of being in blink-182 have also recently come close to fruition as the band (who recorded a B-side from their recent album Nothing Personal with Mark Hoppus) went into the studio to work on a mysterious project of Hoppus’s called Trousdale Press. Hoppus told MTV News recently that they were working on a collaborative track for this new endeavor.

  • This is getting ridiculous: Justin Bieber mauled by two teenage girls

by Emily Zemler Apr 28, 2010 at 8:58 AM

Dear Justin Bieber fans: Can you seriously just chill out. At this rate you are either going to kill the poor guy or force him to retire from music at the ripe old age of 16.

After the tween sensation’s only Australian show was canceled on Monday (due to thousands of stampeding girls), Bieber was basically attacked in the New Zealand airport yesterday. The singer flew to Auckland for further promotional appearances down under and was bombarded by a slew of eager fans, according to MTV News. Two teenage girls apparently swiped Bieber’s hat and his mother was knocked over in the scuffle.  As Bieber Tweeted: ”Finally got to New Zealand last night. The airport was crazy. Not happy that someone stole my hat and knocked down my mama. Come on people … I want to be able to sign and take pics and meet my fans but if you are all pushing security won’t let me.”

  • Five artists we'd like to see on the "Eclipse" soundtrack

by Amar Syal Apr 27, 2010 at 11:05 PM

With only a little bit more than a month away from its June 8th release, speculation is rampant over the final tracklist for Twilight’s Eclipse soundtrack—and with names like Muse and Adam Lambert currently being whispered about, the album is looking like a safe summer bet. That is, obviously, to be expected.

But we wanted to know: What if the film’s producers decided not to play it safe? What if the Death Cab For Cuties and Paramores were all left off the invitation list? What if the music came from a selection of artists with a connection to vampirism that goes beyond wearing black nail polish? These are the central questions of our time!

So consider this an open letter to the music supervisors responsible for Twihard iPods everywhere: If this album is teeming with more I’m Not a Goth, Not Yet a Vampire–type bands, you’ve missed a serious opportunity. Here, then, is a list of five artists we’d love to see on the Eclipse soundtrack, but probably won’t.
