They’ve both been a staple of Sunday nights for some time now, so it seems only natural that we’d eventually have some Family Guy and Simpsons crossover. Seth MacFarlane has recorded a guest spot for The Simpsons’ season 25 premiere, set to air sometime next fall. His character will reportedly attempt to woo Marge away from Homer. Good luck — Marge has stuck by Homer’s side for 25+ years despite him…well, being Homer.

This isn’t the first time the MacFarlane and Groening worlds have collided. MacFarlane voiced a character on Futurama while Dan Castellaneta, voice of Homer Simpson (along with Krusty the Klown, Barney Gumble and many more) has appeared on Family Guy.

Once again, it’s the holiday gift giving season – which is the best of all the gift giving seasons – and, as we all know, nothing says “I love you” to your friends and family more than something with a famous person’s likeness on it. ‘The Dark Knight Trilogy’ on Blu-Ray: Once upon a time, George Lucas defined what it meant to be a trilogy when he produced the original ‘Star Wars’ trilogy. A few decades later Peter Jackson built on and arguably bested Lucas with his own ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy, and now Christopher Nolan has challenged them all with his ambitious, thrilling and near perfect ‘Dark Knight’ Trilogy. Nolan’s Dark Knight franchise is far and away the best representation of Batman ever put on screen and with a plethora of extras, this box set deserves a spot on your shelf.

Only Seth MacFarlane could get away with making cancer jokes at a benefit to raise money for cancer research. Over the weekend, Variety hosted its third annual Power of Comedy event to honor the one-man comedy empire and the Blu-ray release of his hit feature film TED, all while raising funds for the Noreen Fraser Foundation for women’s cancer research.

The event featured performances from some of the funniest comics in the business, including, Joel McHale (the host), Bill Maher, Patton Oswalt, Seth Green, Eric Andre, Rachel MacFarlane, Alex Bornstein, Amy Schumer, Paul Scheer, Anthony Jeselnik, Nick Kroll, Max Greenfield, Chris D’Elia and Garfunkel & Oates. But the biggest star of the night had to be TED himself, who showed up for pictures on the red carpet and even made an appearance during the show. All things considered he seemed pretty well-behaved, from what we could tell he actually wasn’t drunk.

In this week’s movie news we’ve seen several projects get the green light, others in the “wishful thinking” stage, an announcement about next year’s Oscar host, and lesbians. Or at least a movie about lesbians, but more about that later.
