Young Sim was born in Monrovia, Liberia in West Africa. At the age of 4(1988) due to a civil war, he and his family were forced to seek political aslylumn in the United States. The family relocated to Philadelphia Pennslyvania. Understanding life is hard and to make the best out of opportunities was something that was instilled into the young child. His upbringing provided for an increase sensitivity to the good and bad in human beings. In looking for an outlet to express his pent up emotion Young Sim was led into a love and marriage with music. .. .. Young Sim started playing the viola at the age of 7 and fell in love with how music can affect your emotions. "Growing up in an urban environment, Hip Hop was the main genre we would listen to" At the age of 17 at the University of Pittsburgh Young Sim fell in love with Hip Hop and took to writing and recording. .. .. In his efforts to bring something new and tasteful to the world Young Sim decided to promote and make music with integrity. Have his life match his lips. Believing that music should be a reflection of self and that artist should hold themselves accountable for the power and influence they can have, Young Sim encourages artist to put more thought and emotion into the music they make. .. .. Young Sim's style is unique, in that he tends to pull in all types of audiences with his word play, punch lines, and straight to the point forceful verses. His real to life approach minus the vulgarity and sexually explicit lyrics also appeals to a certain conscious crowd.
