MAY 15, 2009:

Corpusse is confirmed to perform live at the acclaimed 2009 ELECTRIC ECLECTICS MUSIC FESTIVAL happening July 31st to August 2, 2009. Corpusse will perform on Friday, July 31, supporting a festival line-up consisting of DAMO SUZUKI, HOLY FUCK, and many other cool musical acts.

Guess what? Corpusse has finished work on his new studio CD! LORENZ PETER is playing all of the instruments and the new record HONEY AND LOCUSTS will sound nothing like any other record they've ever done and include a few musical cameo's. With SPOOKEY RUBEN acting as producer and DAVID DANILOFF executive producing the record, it's guaranteed to come directly from a dark and freaky cosmos. Honey and Locusts will be available on HI-HAT/SONIC UNYON in June, 2009!

Additionally, the feature film documentary about Corpusse is coming in 2010! This film is written and directed by filmmaker and musician MALCOLM FRASER who is also known from his band WORLD PROVIDER, and their many shows with the infamous PEACHES.

Also! Corpusse is conspiring with Daniloff and Ruben once again on a new episode of SPOOKEY RUBEN'S DIZZY PLAYGROUND . The new short music film will once again star Spookey himself, and feature co-stars Corpusse, Daniloff, Antonella Sigismondi, and a very special female film icon to be announced soon. As a one-of-a-kind performer and mythological figure on the Canadian artistic landscape, CORPUSSE has long defied labels and categorizations; his minimalist musical compositions and antagonistic performance art has been acclaimed for two decades shocking and entertaining performances. His raw vocal delivery is the operatic howl of a seemingly tortured soul. Envision CORPUSSE as the underground's Electro-Metal-Goth answer to MEATLOAF, and his hulking appearance would fit very well into a ROCKY HORROR scenario as a poetic predator. His lyrics are funny, bizarre, and strangely serious at the same time. Experiencing his show draws one close to Corpusse, showing that there's emotional heart hidden behind it all. CORPUSSE is Canada's indie god (the friendly demonic kind) of whatever you call his genre. Ambient-Goth-Industrial-Metal-Opera-Rock-Spoken-Word would be a good start. The musical compositions happen thanks to the talent of musician, sound scape creator, and long time collaborator Lorenz Peter. CORPUSSE’s unique brand of living theatre and wild absurdist humour has to be experienced to be believed.

The mighty Corpusse is preparing for his North American Summer tour with fellow freak and new label mate SPOOKEY RUBEN, the acclaimed mutli-talented singer songwriter has asked Corpusse to sign to his record label HI-HAT RECORDINGS and take him on tour. FEBRUARY 25, 2009:

Direct from VICELAND: When we decided to send our intern Patrick McGuire to interview Corpusse in his lair on the lake, he got a lot of I've-never-heard-of-that-guy-before's. Then, one of his friends mentioned a particularly scarring Corpusse gig he'd once seen at Sneaky Dee's where Corpusse had shit all over the stage. There was none of that at his last show (Friday the 13th at the Rue Morgue HQ) but we thought the fake blood, simulated suicide, and keyboard destruction was an OK compromise. If you're in Montreal or Toronto definitely get out to the next Corpusee gig for a screamy bloody mustard in the pants kind of night. We hear he might make it out to the US sometime soon too. DECEMBER 16, 2008: Corpusse has finished work on his new studio CD where LORENZ PETER is playing all of the instruments himself. Corpusse says the new record HONEY AND LOCUSTS will sound more NOTHING like any other record he's ever done. With SPOOKEY RUBEN and DAVE DANILOFF co-producing it is guaranteed to be direct from a dark and freaky cosmos. Also, the Corpusse DVD will soon be in production, featuring a concert from 2007 as well as older concert footage, behind the scenes and more.

DECEMBER 12, 2008: Corpusse was honored to be invited to Montreal to open up for the mighty Priestess at their end of tour homecoming show at La Sala Rosa. Thanks to all the fans who chanted thy name and provided such a warm reception. I'll be back soon!

NOVEMBER 20, 2008: Corpusse and Daniloff Unite

Corpusse and noted film/music producer DAVID DANILOFF
have joined forces to form a creative new business alliance. With additional promotional support for Corpusse coming from Rue Morgue President RODRIGO GUDINO
Daniloff will take on the duties of Corpusse management, booking, and promotion starting December, 1st, 2008. There will be regular updates on Corpusse Myspace, Facebook, and official site. Stay tuned for more insanity!

And then there is Corpusse. The Rue Morgue press release describes him as an “anomaly,” which is an understatement. Since grade eight — which for Corpusse was in the mid-’80s — this Montrealer-turned-Torontonian has performed a style described as “minimalist musically, maximalist theatrically” (he also accepts “the punk rock Leonard Cohen” as a tag). Employing fellow weirdos like Montreal artist Rick Trembles (on guitar in the early ’90s) or current keyboardist Lorenz Peters, Corpusse’s antagonistic shows blend an early love of Alice Cooper with the dark and disturbing synth-plod of Throbbing Gristle, plus just enough GG Allin to make you feel nervous. His Doctor And The Medics hair is also pretty rad.

Are you the living link between ’70s shock-rock and goth?

The strange thing is that the music I perform is nothing like the music I listen to or actually grew up with. Originally I thought it was going to be a brotherhood like Mötley Crüe or Deep Purple — full band, keyboards and theatrics. But it never happened because I never met the right people. They either couldn’t play or they weren’t interested in it — it takes dedication and a massive amount of belief in what you’re doing. So it just turned into the show it is today, with me onstage with guests. And of course I have 12 years of history with Lorenz. When people start telling me about all the goth bands out there, I’m really kinda out of it — I just don’t follow it.

Corpusse is a performance artist with incredible talent. His shows are both minimalist musically and maximalist theatrically.
