Bio
At first you think it's a Caribbean breeze moving through distant palm trees. But as it grows, you realize that though it tussles the hair on your head, it's not wind. It's sound. It's the feel it in your chest thump-thump-thump of the bass, pounding out rhythms that flow through you. Sure, you try to ignore it at first --- but as they say, resistance is futile. Before you know it, you're up on your feet, shaking your rump, and having the time of your life. The Steadies aren't invited to the party --- they are the party! The Steadies take the explosively popular Top 40 sound and mix it with rocksteady and reggae influences, creating what they've dubbed, "island rock." No matter your mood, The Steadies pick you up and carry you to the beach in your mind, the club in your dreams, the place you go to clear your head and dance. It's a scene where rumbling fault lines rip open the dance floor, and the only thing that keeps you from falling over is the gravitational pull of the steady beat. The Steadies' frontman Earl Pereira got his rock n' roll pedigree as a founding member of the 90s blues-driven rock band Wide Mouth Mason, who had three gold records, three Juno nominations, and a host of other accolades and awards. Pereira has toured the world, playing over 3000 shows and opening for iconic artists like The Rolling Stones and AC/DC. He was named one of Canada's top bass players by Canadian Music Magazine and has been featured on MTV, Muchmusic, and the Ryan Seacrest Show, as well as in publications like Rolling Stone Magazine and The National Post. Also in the line-up, Trinidadian guitarist Justin Lee and talk-show-host / drummer Jason Hattie. The Steadies make high energy, funktified music that spreads good vibes no matter where they play. Hitting the ground running with the momentum that Mobadass has built over the last five years, demand for The Steadies is already high, with over 100 shows booked for 2011. The Steadies have played with talent like Bedouin Soundclash, Blue Rodeo, Arrested Development, Los Lobos, Sloan, K-OS, and many more. They were showcased at the 2010 Winter Olympics and The Grey Cup and have headlined countless festivals across Canada. Look for the new album from The Steadies, coming in 2011. -

- WHAT THE INDUSTRY IS SAYING ABOUT THE STEADIES -
< John Jones, Region Manager, Warner Music Canada > "The groove of Wide Mouth Mason seemed to come from Earl Pereira. He was one of three quarterbacks with the band that made the move to starter role with {The Steadies}. So naturally whether it is on disc or the electric live show, he is an outstanding bass player and vocalist that can play with anyone."
< Willi Jahnke, Administrator, NRMS/Octopus Productions Inc. > "The Steadies performed here during the 2009 Nakusp Music Festival. What a band and what a show! I can't praise them enough! It was a true pleasure to work with these boys who have a very professional attitude and approach on things. And such praise should not be taken for granted as professionalism is still very rare in this industry. The Steadies is a band which I can recommend to anybody who wants a true party. I sure will book them back."
< Ryan De Alwis, Summer Solstice Festival > "The Steadies rocked my aura at Solstice. Their eclectic melange of island-funk-rock rattled my bones and provided the soundtrack for the Solstice landscape. I had never seen them before and it was truly a treat to experience them at such a great event. They made the night! The dance floor was rumbling with strobes of movement and laughter. I couldn't imagine, nor would I want to imagine, Solstice without The Steadies."
< Kevin Tobin, Festival Manager, Saskatchewan Jazz Festival > "Not only is The Steadies' crew professional and a pleasure to work with; more importantly the band is first class, and deserve more opportunities to spread there infectious good vibe sound to a larger and diverse audience."
